Our Hunting Labs...

Picture
Our original labrador retriever, Abigail, was the first of many excellent hunters.  Abigail and her lineage were masters at flushing and fetching downed ducks, geese, woodcock, pheasants, and grouse.  Our labradors live to hunt, swim, and everything in-between.

Our dogs are taught the basic commands, "Come here", "Sit", "Stay", "Fetch", etc., from an early age.  They are trained using whistles, collars, and rewards.  New hunting pups are also exposed to water, gunfire, and to wings/feathers from the previous year's birds and waterfowl, on a daily basis, to prepare them for the upcoming hunting season.

According to Stephen Carpenteri, all line-bred Labs have hunting, flushing and retrieving instincts bred into them, but it is important to remember that no hunting dog is born knowing every aspect his job. They all require training and experience.  You can teach a Lab to point, to “set” or to flush birds — even all three — and once the dog learns its job it will excel at it.

Our labradors are trained to meet our hunting needs, we will not train your new puppy as a hunting dog, we only provide an excellent hunting lineage.  Our lineage is bred having the hunting instinct, but you as the new owner will need to take the time to specifically train your new puppy to meet your specific needs.
